OverText Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-10-05

OverText is an Android app provided by Devpip (package name com.devpip.overtext). It lets you listen to Discord text channels, send messages using push-to-talk, and optionally share location pins. This policy explains how we handle information when you use OverText.

Information we access and use

Who receives information

We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host the OverText service and store identity, session, and delivery records. Discord processes sign-in, channel information, and messages. OpenAI processes recordings for transcription and, when selected, text for speech generation. Your selected Android speech engine may have its own provider. Opening a map link shares that request with your chosen maps app or browser provider. Messages and shared pins are visible to people who can access the Discord channel you choose.

These providers may process information outside your country and apply their own privacy and retention terms. See Discord's Privacy Policy, OpenAI's Privacy Policy, AWS's Privacy Notice, and, when using Google Maps, Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising. The current app does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. We may disclose information when required by law or necessary to address fraud, abuse, or threats to service security.

Storage, retention, and security

The app stores preferences locally. App credentials and pending outgoing submissions are encrypted using Android Keystore-backed keys. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes its local records. Signing out clears app identity and the saved received pin; it does not erase Discord messages or all server records.

Server sign-in handoffs expire after 10 minutes. Device identity records expire after 30 days unless refreshed through continued use. Active session access expires after a short heartbeat lease. Delivery records are marked to expire after seven days; outgoing message content is removed when delivery reaches a final state. Operational logs are configured for approximately one month of retention. Database expiry cleanup is asynchronous, so physical removal can occur after the expiration time. Backups may retain earlier records for their configured recovery period.

Signed-out data retention

Signing out immediately revokes that device's access to OverText and removes its refresh credential. Device identity records use a rolling 30-day expiration from sign-in or successful refresh. Revoking access does not depend on waiting for database cleanup, and signing out does not itself delete every account-linked record. Signing in again creates a new device identity; other signed-in devices retain their normal expiration periods. Records already deleted cannot be restored.

Shorter retention periods for recordings, outgoing messages, session records, and operational logs continue to apply. Expiration makes database records eligible for asynchronous deletion, so physical removal may occur later. Backups follow their separate recovery and expiration periods. This policy does not delete messages or pins already shared to Discord, recipients' copies, or data held independently by other providers.

You may request deletion sooner using the contact method below. A deletion request does not require you to wait for these expiration periods and is handled separately from ordinary sign-out.

Discord messages and OpenAI-processed data follow those providers' retention practices. Devpip cannot erase recipients' copies of messages or pins by clearing the app or signing out. We use encrypted network connections and access controls to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Your choices and deletion requests

You can stop Live, sign out, select Android rather than OpenAI reading voices, delete the local recording in Diagnostics, and revoke microphone or location permissions through Android settings. Avoid sending confidential information in recordings or messages unless you intend the described recipients to receive it.

To request deletion of your OverText identity and associated service records, contact overtextdev@gmail.com and identify your Discord user ID. We may ask you to verify ownership. You do not need to wait for automatic record expiration to send a deletion request. The app currently has no dedicated full-account-deletion control. Signing out revokes the device's access but is not an account-deletion request. Deleting OverText data does not delete your Discord account or messages already posted to Discord.

Children

OverText is not intended for children under 13 or people below Discord's minimum age in their country. If you believe a child has provided information through OverText, contact us.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as OverText changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice for material changes where required.
